#throughthejuicer : 7 Day Reboot

Guess what we bought today?! A juicer. No, not a blender... nor a food processor. A juicer! And not just any juicer.... a JACK LA LANNE juicer.

Besides living 'til 96 my eyes almost popped out of my head when I read that he swam from Alcatraz to San Fran... TWICE! On the 2nd attempt he was handcuffed, shackled and towed a 1000 lb. boat. If that is not proof of 'mind over matter' or 'where there's a will, there's a way', or.... ok I'll stop, but REALLY- amazing! More crazy LaLanne stuff here.
Paul and I rented Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead (a documentary by @JoetheJuicer who was once tipping the scale at 310 lbs., but turns his life and TOTAL HEALTH around with a juicer and a spirit to explore outside of 'down under') this week and were glued to the screen. If you haven't seen it, DO SO NOW. No, really. Stop reading and log on to NetFlix. So... after watching it we looked at each other and were like, 'we should totally try that!'

A couple more conversations and our minds were set. 7 days, nothing but juice and faith. He'll doing 15 and keeping a video blog which I'll share soon!

During a traffic detour I accidentally put myself in front of a farmers market with 8 minutes to spare before closing! What luck! I snagged at least 10 pounds of LOCALLY grown, healthy greens (and oranges and reds) for only $11. (Maybe we WILL go to Vegas soon!)

When I climbed up the stairs towing the $100 juicer and the most veggies our fridge has seen at once, Paul's eyes lit up! We jumped in the kitchen, washed up and let the fun begin. We each had a 12oz. juice containing...

  • 1 Head of Romaine Lettuce
  • 2 Turnips
  • 2 Carrots
  • 1 Apple

We had planned on running after and getting some weight lifting in, but woah. This juice had other plans for us. We immediately felt 'light-headed' and had upset stomachs. When I told my dad we were going to start 'juicing', what's the first thing he says?--- 'it may make you sick at first'. Dad's know best... (Happy Birthday Dude <3 ) Did I mention my parents juice frequently and are very much so... hippies.

Paul and I will weigh ourselves tomorrow and flesh out the 'game plan' as we go. For now, Day 1 of 7 begins manana...

Blogger it is!

Well! I've given up on Tumblr... in attempt to go more 'Googley'! Paul will be proud (more on him later).

1st order of business? Get into shape for the good ol' Diva Dash put on by one of my fave mags (yes I still read print media!). Obstacle course with a bunch of princesses? Count me in. With Ritas to follow, of course.
